Dyson

Founded in 1991 by James Dyson, Dyson is a multinational technology company headquartered in Singapore that specializes in high-performance household appliances. The company is historically recognized for commercializing the first bagless vacuum cleaner using cyclonic separation technology, which replaced traditional disposable filters with centrifugal force to maintain suction.

Dyson’s product development is centered on proprietary digital motor technology and advanced airflow engineering. Its current portfolio is categorized into several primary divisions:

Floor Care

This remains the company’s core sector, consisting of cordless stick vacuums, upright models, and autonomous robots like the 360 Vis Nav. Dyson’s vacuum cleaners are characterized by high-RPM motors and multi-stage HEPA filtration systems designed to capture microscopic particles.

Environmental and Personal Care

  • Air Treatment: A range of bladeless fans, heaters, and humidifiers that utilize "Air Multiplier" technology to circulate purified air.
  • Hair Science: High-velocity hair dryers, stylers, and straighteners that use controlled heat and airflow to prevent thermal damage.
  • Lighting: Task and ambient lighting solutions designed for long-term LED bulb longevity through integrated heat pipe cooling.

Dyson operates as a premium manufacturer, positioning its products at the top end of the consumer price spectrum. In professional evaluations, the brand is typically noted for its distinctive industrial design, high power-to-weight ratios in cordless models, and significant investment in research and development. While the brand is often a first-mover in high-end household tech, its products are frequently compared against more affordable competitors that offer similar utility at lower price points with less emphasis on aesthetic or proprietary motor specs.

The Dyson 360 Vis Nav™ is a high-suction robotic vacuum powered by a Hyperdymium™ motor that operates at 110,000 rpm. It utilizes a 360° panoramic vision system and a suite of 26 sensors to facilitate environmental mapping, obstacle detection, and wall-sensing. The hardware is designed with a full-width brush bar for broad coverage and an automated extending side duct that redirects suction to capture debris along edges and corners. The device features whole-machine HEPA filtration rated to capture 99.99% of particles as small as 0.1 microns and offers four distinct cleaning modes: Auto, Quick, Quiet, and Boost. Users manage the vacuum via the MyDyson™ app, which provides tools for zone-based scheduling, boundary setting, and reviewing "deep-clean" heat maps that illustrate dust concentration levels across the floor plan.
